A week without daddy...

This past week has been very interesting as L and I have been braving it alone at the house (although one night I did stay at my brother's house because I needed some company)! Steve left Sunday morning for a certification class near Virginia Beach and will be returning late this evening, so I've had a chance to feel what it would be like to be a single parent. It was every bit as hard as I thought it would be as EVERYTHING I did took twice as long and had to be meticulously thought out, but we got through it just fine. I'll have to say that although I know I can survive as a single parent, I am eternally grateful to have a wonderful husband who is also a wonderful father. I've always known that Steve is those things, but I think we always take for granted the people that we have around us that we love, and I just wanted him and everyone else to know what an awesome person he is, and how lucky I am to have him! I am so happy he will be home tonight :)

Our little nugget

It's amazing to me how in just as little as four months our little nugget has changed so much. After her check up the other day we were able to start her on solid foods...and she has done so well! We started her off with oatmeal mixed with a little apple juice and she was definitely interested. She did well not spitting it out. Now, we have moved on to peas. Peas were very different for her as she really did not like them at first. She actually made gagging noises during a few bites, but we kept trying. Last night was her third attempt at peas and she did very well until she started screaming because she had had enough and wanted her bottle! haha But overall, we are impressed at how well she is doing. She has even started opening her mouth to take the spoon. In a few days, we'll introduce sweet potatoes!

As for other news, yesterday she finally rolled over for the first time, from back to front. We've been trying it with her for a while and the last few days she gets so close but her arms keep getting in her way. Yesterday while at my Aunt Joyce's (my aunt keeps her on Wednesdays) London decided she would roll over during a diaper change! When Steve and I got her home last night, she did it again for us. The funny thing though is that she has mastered the hard roll. We've done tummy time so much but she is hilarious when she is on her stomach because she has no interest in turning over...all she is trying to do is get up on her knees and crawl. I know I've said it before in previous posts, but we are going to be in BIG trouble when she finally starts moving because she will be into a world of trouble.

She's also been extremely vocal lately. She's learned how to make new sounds so at night when we rock her to sleep she just looks up at us and just goes to town with her sounds. Its like she's trying to tell us all about her day. I love it, but it makes me giggle. Oh, and she's been laughing a lot lately. The most we heard her laugh was at two kids bouncing a basketball on our sidewalk...she cackled for like 10 minutes. Hilarious!

Now I would like to leave you with a few photos I took of her this week. I know we take WAY too many photos of this child, but she's just so darn cute :)

Playing hard...

Pause to watch some TV

Back to playing!

We handed her a carrot to see what she would do...

She tried to find her mouth...

Still searching...

Thought this was hilarious because it looks she
is trying to smoking a cigar!
Messy face!

4 month check up

Sorry for the double post yesterday. Steve and I posted within 3 minutes of one another so that was kind of crazy and random. Neither of us realized it until we were talking when we got home about the blog we had just posted.

Anyways...Steve and I took London in for her 4 month check up this morning. She had to get some more shots, but took them fairly well. She was irritated when the doctor was looking in her mouth with the tongue depressor and after we got her calmed down from that, in came the nurse with the needles. She got pissed. Her face turned as red as a strawberry but once the nurse left, she looked at us and blew raspberries. Now for the good stuff...London is weighing in at 16.9 lbs (95th percentile), is measuring 25 inches (75th percentile), and we are able to start her on solid foods. Pictures of her first attempt at cereal tonight will come soon :)

What a wonderful weekend!

I posted this photo for Steve because he is always talking about how London is a "ginger" and I've always said no she isn't, but in this photo, there is no denying that London does have some auburn hair! I took this yesterday afternoon right before our walk around the neighborhood! I also like this picture because she doesn't look real...such a cutie.

Now onto my blog about the weekend...
Warm weather will do wonders! Steve, London and I had a wonderful weekend. On Friday night we really didn't do a whole lot since Steve and I were getting up extra early on Saturday to work on our hardwood floors...well we did have an eventful evening with Heidi and Mary. Somehow game night turned into lets wax Steve's chest night and get a video of it! I'll try to post the video later...it's quite hilarious. Ok, back to the hardwood floors. We had worked some on Thursday afternoon to try and finish the second room we are putting the hardwoods in, but the floor nailer broke so we had to stop. After a few attempts to borrow, and rent a floor nailer on Saturday morning, we just ended up buying a new and better one...a pneumatic one that does all the hard work for us. We had a late start Saturday, but that didn't slow us down. Steve and I knocked out over half of the room so we have just a little left to do. It's so exciting! We were able to rearrange all of the furniture which is something we've both been wanting to do for over a year! I would post a photo but I don't know if I have any "before" pictures to compare it to and for those who have never seen our house, it would just look like a living room! If i find some before pictures, I will surely post them.

On Sunday, the weather was beautiful again so we decided to get London outdoors and take some pictures of her. She turned 4 months old on March 5 and I wanted to get some professional photos made of her once she turned 4 months. I was quickly reminded by Steve and my mother that it would be stupid to pay the money to have photos made when I could take them myself. I couldn't have asked for better weather, or a more beautiful baby girl!! Below are some of our favorites, but I've also added some others just because they are cute.

Our absolute favorite...look at her pretty blue eyes. Watch out boys :)

Always the happy little girl.

I had to add this one because she is semi-pouting, and it's funny.

She got a little grumpy from being on her tummy so long so we decided to take her inside to play. Then she decided she wanted more tummy time so I took some more pictures. These are just cute ones to enjoy.

I love this expression.

I had to add this one because I have a picture of me around
the same age, with the exact same expression.

Look at those chunky arms!!!

Monday was also a beautiful day so I couldn't resist getting her out there one last time to capture a few more photos. These were my favorites from that little session.

A Beautiful Weekend Out In The Yard

Sunday was so nice, Crystal and I took the day off from finishing the harwood floors to spend a little QT outside with L and Frankenstein. Our little fair skinned Munchkin loved it! We kept her in the shade at ALL TIMES, but somehow the little ginger still got a hint of pink on her cheeks! Looks like we had better buy stock in Coppertone.

She discovered plant life, and I think that she wanted to eat it!

We actually have Daffodils blooming! These are transplants from originals that London's Great - Grandmother Fryar planted around a pond at the farm years and years ago.

She loves to pull her shirt up and play peef-a-boo.

Taking a break.
OK, I am ready to play again!
