Birthdays and Beach

It's been a while but not a whole lot has been going on with us this month so there hasn't been too much to write about. But, to update you a little, here is what we've been doing...

Steve's 28th birthday was August 12th, so of course we had to celebrate! Since we were having such a hectic week, we decided to have a nice relaxing evening at home for his birthday. We grilled some steaks, had some mac & cheese and then I baked him a blackberry cobbler for dessert. Steve isn't big on desserts (especially since he is now trying to lose some of his "sympathy" weight as he likes to say...please!) so I decided not to bake him a birthday cake. Instead, I remembered a conversation we had had a few months prior about how one of his memories as a child was picking blackberries with his sister and his mom baking a cobbler out of the berries they picked. So, being the terrific wife I am, I incorporated a little of his childhood into his birthday...I'm trying to keep him youthful :) The funny part of it though was when I stuck 28 birthday candles into the cobbler, it looked like he was holding a ball of fire!!

The next night, on the 13th, my family decided to go to The Angus Barn (yes, in Raleigh...in the middle of the week) to celebrate my aunt's birthday (Aug 10), Steve's birthday (Aug 12), and Ricky's birthday (Aug 14). We had a great dinner...but we very tired on the way home. I don't think Steve and I got back to our house until midnight. I was worthless the next day!!

On August 18th I decided to escape to the beach for a few days with Steve's mom and some of his brothers and sisters. I had a great time relaxing out on the beach...especially since this one the only beach vacation I was getting this year. We spent 2 days at Cherry Grove and then I came home to get ready for "Wedding Season!" Vacation was wonderful while it lasted. Sorry you didn't get to go baby :(
